Pursuant to Ministerial Resolution No. 368-2026-MTC/01.02, published in the Official Gazette on July 10, 2026, the Peruvian Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) has approved and officially issued the “Railway Development Master Plan to 2050” (Plan Maestro de Desarrollo Ferroviario al 2050).

The Master Plan seeks to: (i) establish a long-term policy framework to guide the planning and prioritization of railway initiatives, fostering the orderly and sustainable development of Peru’s national railway system; (ii) promote the development of railway projects based on projected freight and passenger demand through 2050; and (iii) provide a coherent strategic roadmap for the formulation and implementation of investment projects, with particular emphasis on the economic assumptions underpinning its long-term projections.
Should you wish to learn more about the Railway Development Master Plan, we are pleased to share an executive overview prepared by our consultants.
